Lily of the Mohawks

Moccasin Musings
We’re putting our mittens together at Moccasin Musings for the Lily of the Mohawks (1656-1680) Kateri Tekakwitha, now Saint Kateri Tekakwitha.  Kateri is the first Native Americian to be canonized as a Saint in the Catholic Church.  She was known for here purity and piety and her miracles of healing.  A victim of a small pox purge that took both of her parents, Kateri survived but was disfigured.  After her death, at the side of Jesuits in the mission village of Kahnawake, the pock marks on her face disappeared and her beauty returned.
Kahnawake is located not far from Wendaki where our MarieShoes moccasins are made.

Gene Sanderson is owner, with his wife, Shirley, of Marie Shoes.com. Marie Shoes.com has been selling quality moccasins, mukluks and slippers around the world since 2006.
